Fight, do not agitate!

The nation is boiling beyond measure over the gang-rape of the 23 year old girl in the capital. I understand the anger of the youth and appreciate the way the Delhites have taken this up bravely to the streets. But rallies have turned violent, comments wrongly interpreted, the government being abused just for the heck of it, and the police, to maintain peace, have to take measures against these agitators with their water cannons and some lashes. This makes me think and question the conduct of both the police and the protesters. The anti-government hooligans and the uber-raging youth want those rapist hooligans to be hung without giving a thought. After Kasab's death, capital punishment seems to have gained popularity amongst most of the agitators.

I am definitely not with the police and I want to support the protesters. But there are flaws. The protests centre around a one sided sexist theme: women. Most of these men and women you see on the roads holding a placard and shouting slogans seem to be suffering from a dwindled perception of things. They must break out of their closed-mindedness causing their blood to boil which clearly is not good for social health and peace of the land. A broad-minded perspective wouldn't have got them to the streets with signboards reading - 'Teach your son manners!'. What are they gambling on? That women can't rape at all and all men are perpetual rapists?? No. I am not affirmative of this notion. The signboard should read - Teach your son and daughter manners!!

Please don't agitate reading this. Reserve your judgement, I am not a chauvinist. Do you not get it? Do you just not get it? These weakened levels of protests are just projecting a weakened image of women - we the women of the land need special safety because we are weaker than the men and the eunuchs. Oh dear, why wont you understand everyone needs safety! Why wouldn't you open your eyes and see for yourself that we are dealing with a bigger issue also involving little children, adolescent boys and girls, almost all the eunuchs and some frail men; and not just women!! We need laws to preserve the safety of every sex. We need stringent laws against rape and sexual abuse as a whole, without any quota bias. Address the weak, I would give a shoulder. Fight for their cause, I would salute you and join your side. But don't you dare paint a sex to be weak on the whole. I am friends with women who are brave and I would hit you hard if you, even in a remotely tacit sense, make them appear weak.

I thought the media would help. But they clearly are not. Instead of standing up for the poor girl who has suffered serious assault, they seem to have joined hands with some anti-social elements and making the whole mess look political. The father of the girl had to make a public appearance asking for people to calm down. The way some journalists, who self-ordain themselves to be great anchors, try to jack the top officials in a seemingly arrogant manner make them only look like pigs. They ought to be looking for answers. But whoosh, the way they complicate things. TV rating is what their eyes and hearts look for, and definitely not peace. On this, I am doubly affirmative.

I was shocked to see the headlines which read - a certain Constable Tomar, the sole bread-winner of the family, was killed in the protests being beaten up by the agitators. Now, isn't it right, by their own standards, to demand capital punishment for those retarded pro-death penalty agitators who brutally killed him? Hooliganism is not the answer to hooliganism. Lawless behavior is not the way to seek justice. Where are those funny faces that appeared on various Television Channels venting their immature anger to hyped up irrational levels?

Folks, wake up. Be clear-minded. Develop clarity of thoughts. Shed your stereotypical way of perceiving things. Fight for the oppressed and the afflicted. Don't try to monetize your fight. And don't commit the very same deeds you fight against, 'cause that would nullify all your efforts and make you look like a fool. Be honest in your motives. Spread peace.

Yet Again, The World Lives On

I woke up today and found to my smirking dismay that the world did not end. I expected at least one thunder/lightning, let alone earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis. Nay, it was a huge disappointment. But National Geographic's 'Doomsday Preppers Season 2' picked up its TV rating, thanks to the Mayan calendar. Talks and rumors of a massive cataclysm turned out to be an as-usual hoax. The deity Itzamna which helped the Mayans frame this 'long count calendar' seems to have made a mistake.

Cues from a long destroyed civilization and there were people to buy these stories. The US government had to write a blog post to allay fears of its young citizens. Yes, there was fear widespread. People unusually offering more prayers to cleanse them of their iniquities, in one hand. And the others partying hard and doing stupid things thinking their time is fast running out. 'Miss extra-terrestrial contactee' Nancy Lieder's Nibiru cataclysm story was also mixed with this and that pushed NASA to write in its website stating all these are false and fictitious.

There was a Harold Camping of May 21, 2011. And now a Mayan Calendar. What's next? Hoaxes will come and go, but there would still be takers for any story spun. Because the human mind is in its relentless search for the truth which is driven primarily by fear. A broken pot cannot hold water, a heart full of fear cannot grasp truth. Fear upsets things. It shatters peace. Leads us to falsehood. What if the world really has to end? What if death has to strike us the very next moment? Why would we fear? Isn't life worth more than all those fables of destruction! Fear is for those who live insincere fake lives filled with malice.

Harold Camping or the Mayan calendar or Nibiru cataclysm or a road accident or a serious ailment or whatever, the world would end for everyone one day. Do not fear. Appreciate life. Excel in all you do. Help others. Be happy.

The Christmas Star

Nights are very special when skies are very clear. We see stars twinkling at us. As a child, I had spent so many hours trying to count those little white sparkles with my baby fingers. Scientists say, there are millions and millions of stars in the universe. I will go with the Holy Bible which says the moon and the stars were made to rule the night, in its opening chapter.

Christmas mood on the up. Bay decoration tomorrow at office and my colleagues wanted me to get stars and other decorative items. I went to Kammanahalli to buy some stars. And my thoughts were lightened. Rewind 2000 years and there was a star which directed the Magi straight to that manger where Christ the Lord was born.

Okay, back to 2012. The world looms in darkness circling around the Sun at an orbital speed of 29.8km/s. The measure of darkness is vast in the real world and in the psychological and spiritual. There is darkness all over. Crime rate is increasing exponentially despite steps taken by those in law and order. People who have tasted darkness and have found pleasure in it wouldn't come to light. There are stories of envy, vile and lust making headlines. Destruction, bombings, wars and murders, and much more. According to the Mayan calendar, the world would end any time tomorrow.

We loosely recite old tales of how a star guided the Kings from the East to the birthplace of the Messiah. But still, refuse to apply it in a more practical sense. Aren't we supposed to be those stars? Yes, you clearly are confused now. I mean 'stars' in a sense that matters to life. Stars, to lead people in darkness and bring them to light. Aren't we made to rule the night? Aren't we called to be the light of the world?

More than just connecting bulbs to the paper stars bought from fancy stores and hanging them in front of our houses to showcase our religion, it is important to understand who we really are and what our purpose on earth really is! There are enough people yearning for love. They have suffered huge loss in their lives. Some are blind, deaf and dumb. Some are mentally challenged. There are kids who bear the curse of AIDs on their bodies without their knowledge, for no mistake of theirs. There are babies orphaned every day. People who live in hunger and would love to have the slightest taste of even the waste you throw out. There are people on their beds dying of cancer and other serious ailments.

Do you even know what suffering is? You cry so easily for the silliest of things and lavish your emotions saying you're hurt and are in pain. What do you really know of hurt, please tell me! I am not blaming you. No. But please understand and have the slightest of concerns for those who are in need of love. Definitely not a huge ask, is it? Only the slightest of concerns. A smile, probably. A gentle pat on a shoulder which bears huge burdens. A sincere prayer for a miracle to touch a dying soul. A half hour and not more, cut from the multiple hours you spend sitting in front of your monitors to soothe people in your chat rooms/social networks, spent with the underprivileged kids. If you really have more money and if you wish to offer, a very small part of it. Not more. Not more at all.

Be the real Christmas Star. Shine bright and rule the night!

Ta-Ta Facebook

Facebook, for me, was a serious time-killer. It swallowed almost 4 hours a day. I used to write good statuses, join discussions, share pictures and videos. I did earn so many likes. Created uproars. Some would comment on my statuses and shares. And some would out frustrations. Everything was going fine till one day I was woken up to a certain realization.

There are few discoveries I made. One, there are very few original thinkers in Facebook. All the others just look at others, imitate, try one or two unoriginal stuff to show-off and act as ones they are totally not. Two, things become more and more fake, and people start losing their self identity forgetting who they really are. Three, you can easily be stalked. Four, people make private things open which leads to a pig-fight where others involuntarily join the party creating a trend, the shameless sharing of private life.

When your actions are driven more and more by what others might feel, think and say, be sure that your doom is near. Oh yea, so very near. The whole set up creates a psychological mesh where multiple emotions are intertwined as wires. It makes you crave to be recognized, please your countless friends, takes you to a bottomless pit where you are eternally bothered about what others would think of you. Yes, it bothers you. It can rob you even of your sleep.

After studying all these, I decided and said to myself a big ENOUGH DUDE. I cannot stand a fake world filled with unoriginal people. I dwell in the real, and I cannot dwindle myself to lowly fiction. So I did the right thing. Clicked the permanently delete link, filled few forms and killed myself in Facebook.

Now I am free. I am out of the shackles. I have more time. I can play my guitar. Compose few songs. Right, I have few friends now but they are true and real. I spend more time in prayer. Read books. Write my journal. And see, here am I, blogging too.
